Project to raise awareness of contemporary dance among young people
From January to September 2018
This activity is not open to the general public: it is exclusively for participating schools
ExperimentaDANZA is a campaign to promote and raise awareness of contemporary dance, aimed at young people. It is managed and coordinated by the Coreógrafos en Comunidad collective and the Conde Duque Cultural Centre Madrid. With the support of the Conde Duque Cultural Centre, members of Coreógrafos en Comunidad held workshops with different classes from two schools in Madrid in the first few months of 2018. On 10 May, the pupils came together at the Conde Duque Cultural Centre Theatre to watch five pieces, each one by one of the choreographers they worked with in the classroom. At the end, they discussed the performances, contemporary dance on stage, the implications and their interpretations.
One of the main objectives of ExperimentaDANZA is equal access and the right to culture for all young people. With this campaign we aim to offer tools for young people to express themselves both individually and collectively, by showing good quality stage productions that promote understanding of contemporary dance codes and performing arts in general. In other words, creating a new generation of quality, demanding audiences.
